We closed on our house yesterday. Woohoo. It is nice not to have to drive the long drive up 316 anymore, even though we loved our house. Buying it was the largest check of my life, and selling it also involved the largest check of my life. Excellent.

I was in Nashville last night, and had to stay up until 3am putting the deck together for today's presentation. That is a rarity for me. At least it was only 2am local time...

I'm going to bed!

My friend MikeL from Tech has been inviting a group over to his condo every Sunday night for a while to play strategy games, and I have gotten to go a few times. It is quite a good time. Mike is newly engaged to Alexa, and they cook for 5-10 people most every Sunday night.

Here is a quick review of a few games we have played:

Railroad Tycoon - This has been one of my favorites. You build your own Railroad company, and get points for shipping goods. You also get to be a famous railroad dude like Rockafeller or Vanderbilt. It is a simplified version of Age of Steam, which I haven't played. I've looked at buying this one.

Mall of Horror - In this game you play as three characters trapped in a mall of zombies. You win by moving to safety, and if the zombies outnumber you then you have to vote who gets fed to the zombies. So you have to betray each other to win. It was humorous, but you could quickly be out of the game if you weren't as good friends with someone. I didn't like it as much.

Caylus - Another cool one where you are building a castle for the King. You can get Victory points by building the castle, or providing a service for others to build the castle. Also a cool one.

We have actually played several more. He has probably 25 board games I've never played before, most of which I had never even heard of before... Excellent.

Ah... my first blog post from Columbus. Most people would assume Columbus, OH, but no, not me. Chrissy and I have a six month apartment here since she is here for rotations. She changes every 5 weeks, and I'm here for a project also. Sometimes life works out. :-)

It is nice to come back to an apartment instead of a hotel. Being able to cook dinner, or watch a DVD is quite nice. Speaking of which, my apartment complex has a nice DVD library. You can borrow them for free, which is nice. That is a service I plan to take advantage of while we're here.

We close on Monday. Fingers crossed.
